TULSA, Okla., Sept. 27, 2012 – A just-published case study about a spatial business intelligence (BI) solution implemented at Tulsa-based Atlas Pipeline cites Stonebridge’s key contributions to the project’s success. The case study was published by Stonebridge partner IDV Solutions, a leading provider of visual BI solutions.
The geospatial application developed for Atlas Pipeline unites all of its internal and external data sources in an interactive map view. The application, which utilizes IDV Solutions’ Visual Fusion software, provides all of Atlas Pipeline’s business units with analysis tools and instant access to the operational and financial information they need to make informed decisions. With Stonebridge’s assistance, Atlas implemented the solution in less than four months.
Atlas Pipeline CIO Tony Dionisio, who selected Stonebridge to lead application development for the project, is quoted in the case study on the business drivers behind the application. “We wanted some insight into what’s going on with the business, that we’re not easily able to discern a spreadsheet, or a bar chart, or a graph,” said Dionisio. “We really want to figure out how the wells connected to our system are going to pay off over time.”
The application developed for Atlas is based on Stonebridge’s Pipeline360° solution. Pipeline360°, which is derived from Stonebridge’s 360° Solution Framework development methodology, provides a holistic picture of the pipeline business by combining data from internal and external sources and presenting it in a Web-based interactive map view. The map-based interface creates a geographic context to the data, enabling users to analyze data in a pictorial way and to get a more complete view of the business, a benefit pointed out by Atlas’ Dionisio in the case study.
“Everyone in the company knows and understands their own segment of the business,” Dionisio said. “But when it comes to communicating with groups beside or above them, that’s where the spatial BI technology really comes into its own. It quickly paints a picture for everyone of what could be a potential business issue.”
