SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 16, 2019 – A trio of data science and data engineering experts from Jonah Energy and Stonebridge Consulting will speak on predictive analytics and machine learning in oil and gas tomorrow at SEG19, the annual conference of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
The presentation is based on a paper, “Predicting Gas Production Using Machine Learning Methods: A Case Study.” The paper was co-authored by Thomas Burgett, Colleen Donegan and Taylor Ward from Jonah, and Tania Mukherjee and Telha Ghanchi from Stonebridge.
Burgett, Mukherjee and Ghanchi were selected to present the paper at SEG19 tomorrow at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
The presentation will focus on findings of an extensive data modeling exercise conducted by a joint Jonah-Stonebridge team. The team used data from an active Jonah gas field to compare multiple machine-learning algorithms and determine the most suitable future drilling scenarios. Jonah has integrated the team’s findings into multiple processes, from completion reviews to assessing future well locations.
SEG19 runs Sept.15-20. SEG’s annual meeting is a premier oil and gas industry event. Last year’s conference was attended by more than 4,000 people from 70 countries.
