TULSA, Okla., Oct. 16, 2015 – Stonebridge Consulting Managing Director Trevor Hicks is a featured presenter at next week’s Calgary Data Management Symposium & Trade Show. Hicks will team with co-presenter Moray Laing of SAS Institute in the breakout session on “Avoiding Analytics Failures.”
The presentation will juxtapose common snafus in oil and gas business analysis and reporting—e.g., data dredging, biased and non-representative data, p-hacking, and persistent “garbage in, garbage out” mentality—with proven approaches utilizing analytical workflows and operationalizing analytical solutions into business processes. The breakout session will at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21.
In addition to serving as Managing Director of Stonebridge’s Houston office, Hicks currently serves as Chairman of the PPDM Board of Directors. He has worked more than 20 years building software and information systems for the oil and gas industry. Hicks has been a member of or led teams working in many domains including wireline, fracturing, drilling, production, pipeline simulation and asset integrity, real-time data transmission, geology, geophysics, application frameworks and databases, data and document management systems, data warehousing, enterprise taxonomy, IT operations and ITIL implementation. Hicks holds a bachelor’s degree in math from the University of Tulsa, a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
