TULSA, Okla., Jan. 5, 2016 – A sharpened focus on building and sustaining data management skills and tools can enable oil and gas organizations to be more efficient and effective, especially during tough times when projects are often postponed and IT budgets curtailed, writes Stonebridge Consulting Managing Director Trevor Hicks in a just-published article.

“As data management professionals, we know our data is important and that it has to be useful to many stakeholders over the life cycle of an asset. Information about our assets changes hands regularly; we share information with our partners, regulators, service companies and the public. Our data management job is to make sure that data and information doesn’t get garbled or lost because of bankruptcies, acquisitions, divestitures or simple carelessness.”

Hicks’ article, “Hands on with the PPDM Board of Directors,” appears in the latest edition of “Foundations,” the official publication of the Professional Petroleum Data Management Association.

In the article, Hicks, who currently serves as Chairman of the PPDM Board of Directors, explains how PPDM membership offers a myriad of opportunities for professional and personal growth through events, training, and peer-to-peer networking.

“Our society is committed to making sure that data is treated as a long term asset for all stakeholders,” Hicks writes, “and that the professionals who manage it are recognized as such, and have the tools and methodologies they need to get the job done.”

The “Foundations” magazine containing Hicks’ article can be accessed online in the publications section of the PPDM website.
